GUEST
:
With over 6,449 wins
to his credit, the clean-cut kid from Oshawa has been
called the "Crown Prince" of the "sport of kings."
Hawley was only 16-years-old and 105 pounds when he
quit school, obsessed by the horse racing. In his
first year of riding he won North America's top apprentice
award, as well as Canada's leading jockey recognition,
a title he held for 6 straight years. At 24, he was
the first jockey to ride over 500 winners in a single
season breaking Bill Shoemaker's 20-year-old record
of 485. Sandy has been inducted into 8 Halls of Fame
including Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the North
American Horse Racing Hall of Fame. In the high stakes
competition of racing, Hawley has distinguished himself
with his fierce competitiveness and an uncanny way
with horses.
Sandy Hawley's most
demanding challenge has been not been aboard a thoroughbred,
but against virulent skin cancer. Told 12 years ago
that he had only months to live, he has courageously
battled the melanoma with experimental drugs, diet,
prayer and determination. Involved in over 20 charities
each year, giving much of his time to helping others,
Sandy Hawley is truly a small man with a big heart

COMPETITION
:
Henry and Sandy compete
at two sports - fishing and golf - with handicap strokes
being awarded to the most successful angler and least
capable golfer. In the bass fishing competition, each
pound counts as 1 stroke, but Sandy's catch is doubled.
In the golf match, Henry tries to make up a 5-shot
difference.
