Located
on the Manitoba - Nunavut boundary, Kasba Lake Lodge
offers legendary far-north fishing for lake trout,
Arctic grayling and northern pike. Landing at the
lodge's own 5000 foot airstrip, guests find comfortable
accommodations and incredible multi-species fishing.
Guides are required and will enthusiastically prepare
incredible shore lunches each day.Sprawling
Kasba Lake is overwhelming at first, but hungry
lake trout abound. Trophy pike are secreted away
in isolated shallow back bays, and spectacular grayling
abound in many of the in-flowing rivers. Angling
guests can fish as they choose - trolling, casting,
spinning, jigging - up to 16 hours a day !
Lake trout are the premier sportfish at Kasba
Lake, and they are everywhere - shallow and deep.
Trolling the lake's deepest troughs is the best
way to hook up with a Kasba trophy - fish up to
50 pounds. For light-line spinning and fly-casting,
the lake's innumerable "rats" (trout under 10
pounds) are formidable quarry. Guests often fish
wherever gulls and terns are feeding on baitfish
and catch lakers until arms grow tired. Moving
to mid-lake basins, vertical jigging 2 to 4-ounce
marabou or oversized tube jigs will consistently
produce consistent lake trout action. Arctic
grayling in the 1 to 3-pound class are found at
several sites about the lake's perimeter, in particular
at inflowing rivers and streams, but are sometimes
caught off the lake's many esker points. Using
wet flies, tiny jigs and small spinners in the
nearby Kazan River (a fly-in day-trip site), it
is not uncommon to catch and release scores of
grayling over the course of an easy day's fishing,
most topping 2 pounds - the benchmark for a trophy
fish - and a dozen over 3 pounds. World-class
Arctic "sails" over 4 pounds are caught annually.
Hard hitting, beautiful and aerial, with a penchant
for fast water, grayling make for a memorable
fishing experience.Relatively
little attention is afforded to northern pike
at Kasba Lake, but trophy fish are here for the
catching. Guests who work at it a bit regularly
top the 20-pound mark, the largest northerns pulling
the scales down past 30 pounds. Shallow bays,
in-flowing rivers, back-lakes and fly-in day-trip
sites provide the kind of pike fishing that can
quickly wear anglers and their tackle out.
Kasba
Lake offers an exceptional multi-species fishery,
with both numbers of fish and trophy lake trout,
northern pike and Arctic grayling. Simply exceptional
! Beyond expectation - with fishing that is simply
out of this world !
