Offering
what is arguably Canada's best road-accessible, multi-species
sportfishery, La Reserve Beauchene, an exclusive-use,
50,000-acre territory containing some forty (40) lakes,
is an exceptional fishing destination. With superior
accommodations, meals and services, reliable equipment,
knowledgeable guides, and trophy-class angling for smallmouth
bass, lake trout, walleyes, brook trout and northern
pike in an unspoiled wilderness setting, La Reserve
Beauchene has it all.
Unlike many places where the best fishing is experienced
at remote, walk-in or fly-in lakes, the Reserve's main
lake, Lac Beauchene, offers great multi-species angling.
Most of the smaller back lakes are accessible by gravel
roads, and each offers outstanding fishing - both in
terms of numbers of fish caught and trophy specimens.
Boats are cached on many of the back lakes, canoes at
others. The lodge supplies electric or smaller gasoline
motors for use on these smaller lakes.
The
largest of the lakes, Lac Beauchene or "Big Beauchene",
is 12 miles long, clear, very deep (over 150 feet)
and dominated by cold-water gamefish species, including
lake trout, northern
pike and whitefish, although walleyes and monster
smallmouth
bass averaging nearly three pounds abound. The shoreline
is composed primarily of rock and sand and strewn
with cedar deadfalls, while a few smaller back bays
support sparse aquatic vegetation.Although
widely known for its incredible smallmouth bass fishing,
it is the brook (speckled) trout fishing that is truly
exceptional at La Reserve Beauchene. Fully half the
lakes hold monster brookies - fish up to seven pounds
! Taggart Lake and its native speckledtrout are favourites,
and this incredible, wild strain
has been introduced
into a number of the smaller lakes. Early season is
prime time for Beauchene trout and consistent fishing
and trophy fish is the norm for anglers using a stealthy,
"finesse" approach.
La
Reserve Beauchene offers its angling guests a full
range of accommodations and services including guiding,
American-plan packages at the "White House" lodge,
housekeeping plans in modern, fully serviced log cabins,
self-sufficient outpost camps, and a secluded campground
/ RV park at the distant end of big Lac Beauchene.
A proven multi-species fishery, and wisely managed,
La Reserve Beauchene provides unlimited opportunities
for exciting and memorable fishing vacations for both
widely experienced and recreational anglers alike.
